General Operation
Bottles are picked up and controlled by the standard neck ring on the bottle. They are then transported single file by using air pressurized in a plenum and discharged through louvers against the neck of the bottle.
The bottles travel at varying rates of speed depending on the bottle population in a given section. Line speeds of up to 1200 bpm are attainable. When the conveyor is empty, bottle speed is much higher, giving a quick catch-up on the line.
Since the bottles are captured at the neck, there is no possibility of falling down once the bottle is captured.
The pressure in each zone of conveyor can be regulated with the manual damper located at each blower. This will control the speed range of the section, and allows each zone to be treated separately as required. A gauge for each zone allows the pressure to be set at the appropriate level.
An additional level of control can be added by controlling the speed of the blower motors with a Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) to slow or speed up each blower as the line fills or empties.
At the infeed and outlet of each run of Air Conveyor, an adjustable pickup section allows for changes to pick bottles of varying heights off the Tabletop Conveyor. This is a handwheel adjustment, so product changeover time is kept to a minimum.
